South Kingstown Senior Center

To support Sigma Kappa’s interest in gerontology and commitment to service, each semester sisters from the Phi chapter visit with seniors at the South Kingstown Senior Center. This is a facility that is close to campus and is always excited to work with Sigma Kappa. Some events in the spring included flower pot painting and filling, a Spring Fling dance and other visits where we sisters visit with the seniors and listen to their stories that they’re always excited to share. This fall, we recently visited with the seniors and helped teach them fun ways to tie scarves since colder weather is approaching. Later in the semester, we will be helping to decorate stations for their trick-or-treating and then going back the next day to actually trick-or-treat with them. We also look forward every year to the Tree Lighting event where the senior’s entertain guests with caroling and we help decorate their tree.
